It’s all laughter and good times until the crash, then it’s painful! Thursday evening my beautiful daughter Kendra and I were enjoying our first bicycle ride of the season when that “competitive bone” took over. I looked at her and she saw the challenge in my eyes, the race was on!

I didn’t last long, maybe 50 yards – she saw the path thru the center of what I describe as a ravine (6 inches wide, 6 inches deep, and about 6 feet) across the road in the cemetery, I didn’t. My front tire hit that, as far as I know. Or maybe I hit the brakes hard instead when I saw it? The last thing I remember is heading toward the curb, so I closed my eyes then felt excruciating pain as I hit the ground, praising God that I had a helmet on AND that I didn’t hit the curb. I DIDN’T go over the handlebars, my feet were all tangled up in the pedals ensuring I stayed with the bike for the full ride. My knees and right elbow took the brunt although my left hand and wrist hit first, breaking my arm and wrist. I will be forever grateful for my “Safety Bone” that had me dressed in jeans, lace up shoes, leather gloves, long sleeves, and of course a helmet. As an aside, the nurse commented that she’d never seen such clean wounds! I can only imagine how much more painful it would have hurt had there been asphalt imbedded in them. The nurse was surprised we knew about DMSO and she was open to the Cannabis salve we used on the wounds. I was delighted with her attitude after the reception from the first RN we encountered while checking in. He had an almost violent reaction to the mention of Smokeless Cannabis Remedies (SCRs). Some in the medical profession seem to be threatened by how simple yet versatile SCRs are.

Through all of this I have to thank my beautiful daughter Kendra who got me who and what I needed on Thursday night, thanks to our neighbor, the doctor and nurses, and the woman in reception who was much nicer this time… to Mom and Jill for the sandwich and pineapple and more thanks to Kendra who will help me daily for the next several weeks, even more than she does now!

So, this is all to let you know why we are closed today, Saturday June 22nd, 2013. Please call to schedule your next visit! 541-981-2620.
